Bourgas |map|
Burgas - the city is the fourth largest in Bulgaria, situated in the most western part of the Burgas Bay, spreading on a peninsula surrounded by the three famous lakes - Burgasko, Atanasovsko and Mandrensko. The city of Burgas is turning to be the most vivid and busy centre in the South Black Sea coastline and has the biggest port area in Bulgaria with welldeveloped industry and flourishing trade relations. The Port of Burgas is the biggest seaport in the country. The Airport of Burgas is the one where the international flights land in summer. It's not famous as a beach resort (although you can find a few beaches), but rather as a starting point for the big southern Black Sea resorts in Bulgaria with its railway station facilities and busy bus station.
The favourable geographical location and advanced transport infrastructure of Bourgas are good prerequisites for development of tourism and trade. Bourgas is not only an important industrial centre in the country, it also has considerable resources for tourism. What mostly attracts people here is undoubtedly the sea. The Sea Garden which rivals the one in Varna, the cathedral of St. St. Cyril & Methodius with lavish decorations of mural paintings and frescos, the Armenian Church, the catholic cathedral, the churches of St. Deva Maria and St. Ivan Rilski, the Natural Science Museum, the Philharmonic orchestra and the Art Gallery The city beach in the proximity of the Sea Garden is a very busy and visited place. There is a whole range of bars, restaurants, cafeterias, entertainments and sport facilities on one side and the natural tourist attraction - the golden sand, on the other. The dark colour of the sand on the seacoast of Bourgas is due to the tinge of magnetic alloys which have a very curative effect. Forty kilometres south of the city of Bourgas, sheltered in the northern slopes of Strandzha mountain is the very attractive holiday resort Duni (Dunes) with its sand strip of 4,5 km. If you pay attention to the name you will find out for yourself how the place came to be called in this way. The picturesque and unique sea bay area of this vacation holiday resort is a real paradise to holidaymakers attracted by the opportunities for sports and sunbathing. There is no other spot in Bulgaria so close to the sea and to its romantic atmosphere as Duni. The area is a natural reserve where you may also notice the migration route Via Pontica. The holiday resort Duni is comprised of three separate areas of excellently grouped architecture: Pelican, Marina and Panorama. The basic idea of the architects is to reproduce the romantic side of a small Bulgarian village with narrow cobbled streets, sunny areas and flower gardens, to feel a different ambience and charm. The ecological balance, well preserved through all these years, is awarded with the Blue Flag eco-label award.
Properties in the area: Apartments, Houses, Lands, Commercial properties

Carevo |map|
The southern part of the coast becomes flatter and wilder, with the thick forests of the Strandja Mountains contrasting breathtakingly with numerous cosy beaches extending between the jutting rocks of the mountain. Settlements here are characteristically small and picturesque. To the north, the coast is steeper, though more developed in terms of tourism facilities, while the views down to the sea are unforgettable. The region also contains the main tourist destinations for foreign visitors, such as Golden Sands and Sunny Beach, the latter being the largest resort with the longest and widest strip of beach. Its hotels look out over the sea among dunes and it is known as the sunniest resort in Bulgaria.
Carevo is located in the southern part of the Bulgarian Black Sea coast and lies 72 km south of the city of Bourgas and its international airport, between the Strandja Mountain and the sea. Papiya Mountain, in the south of the town, offers additional tourists attraction with the ruins of an ancient fortress. The town is far away from the noisy, bustling city life and the overcrowded popular summer resorts. Here you can find a quiet place to enjoy your holidays. The village of Carevo will offer you excellent conditions for sports and recreation, cafes, restaurants, pizza restaurants, discos and shopping areas. You will meet friendly local people and get to know more about the delicious Bulgarian cuisine as well as the authentic Bulgarian folklore and dancing on live embers. In the region you can find traces of ancient civilizations, such as stone figures, sun discs carved in stone, Thracian dolmens, fortress walls and sanctuaries.
Once you get to Carevo, it is worth spending a day away from the beach discovering the beauty of the Strandja Mountain. The mountain was declared a National natural park in 1995 (it is in fact the largest one in Bulgaria) and is one of the least explored in Bulgaria, which explains the large variety of wildlife, flora and fauna. This park is an ethnographic reserve with caves and vestiges of ancient populations.

Chernomorets |map|
The small town of Chernomoretz lies just a fifteen minutes drive to the south of Bourgas. The town is built in an inlet between the Akra and Talasakra capes.
Though the town's beach is nothing impressive, the rocky coastline provides secluded spots for swimming, sun bathing and fishing. One admirable local trait is the abundance of shrubbery and flowers attached to most houses, restaurants and cafes.
The town's remarkable growth in recent years has been accompanied by a sizeable expansion of tourist services, including restaurant ones. In fact, some of the town's pubs and small restaurants are much cheaper though nothing worse in terms of quality if compared to their peers in the much more popular Sozopol. Besides an old church in the town, one can enjoy the view of marvelous rock juts outside Chernomorets in northern direction. The south is bordered by a river and canes of human size. Further down the coastline, one can visit the picturesque and ancient town of Sozopol, where more than 45 old houses are declared cultural monuments.

Nessebar |map|
The Bulgarian Black Sea coast has been inhabited since time immemorial, with earliest records dating back to the 5-th century B.C. Situated in the southern part of the Bulgarian Black Sea Riviera and stretching along a beautiful semicircular bay facing eastwards, this region is protected from northern climes by the descending ridges of the Balkan Range, thus blending sea and mountain in perfect harmony. Further south is a small peninsula on which the ancient town of Nessebar is located, an architectural and historical monument of Bulgarian culture.
Today, the narrow peninsula of Nessebar is one of Bulgaria's most delightful tourist spots, as the tiny town attracts nearly a million visitors a year to its narrow cobblestone streets, which wind among quaint 19-th century wooden houses, their tiny courtyards filled with fig trees and vine trellises.
The popularity of the Bulgarian coast and sea resorts has grown rapidly in recent years, following the fall of communism and the opening of borders to foreign tourists. The tourism industry has since developed into one of the main drivers of the national economy, with year-on-year double-digit growth rates in the number of tourists visiting. Bulgaria offers a budget alternative to more expensive European resorts, while quality of service does not fall behind Western European standards in the high-class resorts. With natural beauty and a fascinating culture, coupled with surprising quality and value for money, Bulgaria has much to offer.
With a history dating back some 2,500 years, Nessebar has been linked with many ancient civilizations. The magnificent old quarter is under preservation order as a living museum town, housing the remains of 40 churches from different periods of history. You will find superb opportunities for photography and painting here, and the narrow cobbled streets and gabled houses make Nessebar an ideal place for guests looking for a seaside holiday or home in a traditional Bulgarian town. There is no museum feeling here though - both the old and the new towns are full of life with music and entertainment sometimes late into the night.
A UNESCO World heritage site and an excellent choice. Everything is available at Nessebar. Ancient buildings, historical monuments, quiet restaurants, fashionable cafes and the biggest beach resort of Sunny Beach is only 2 km away.
Very beautiful town.

Sozopol |map|
Sozopol is situated at the southern end of Burgas Bay, 34 km from Burgas - the third largest Bulgarian cities with an international airport. The transfer from the airport takes less than 30 minutes. The city is regarded as the oldest and the most artistic town on the Black Sea Coast because of its atmosphere and lifestyle. The town is divided into two parts called the New and the Old Town. The latter is picturesquely situated on a rocky peninsular. Ancient Sozopol was founded in 610 B.C as a Greek colony of the polis of Millets. A number of ancient monuments date back that period, which can be seen in the town's archaeological museum, have been preserved to present day-ceramic amphorae, ancient anchors, coins. The excavated ancient remains and those of the mediaeval Christian period in the central part of the Old Town are remarkable and worth visiting. This archaeological complex contains exhibits from several historical periods, the oldest of which date back to the time of the first inhabitants.
The architectural wealth of Old Sozopol is the 46 traditional houses from the period of the Bulgarian Revival and Christian chapels half-built in the ground. In the vicinity of the town there are a few nature reserves and conservation areas. On the island of Saint Ivan tourists can see the ruins of St. Ioan Precursor Monastery built 6 centuries ago. In the sea off this island there is a unique underwater natural phenomenon known as the stone forest. No further than 10 km to the south of Sozopol are the nature reserves of Water Lilies and the Ropotamo River. The conservation area of Kolokita is between Rayski Zaliv and the Kavatsite Campsite. It features a fascinating combination of picturesque scenery, cliffs, fiords and marine aquavatoria. The bay Kavatsite is located to the South of the town Sozopol. The region is called "Kavatsite", because of the tall poplars that grow there (from the Turkish word "kavak", meaning "poplar"). The wide, sandy shore is embraced on two sides by rocky promontories. The bay is sheltered from the hazardous northerly and northwesterly winds by the capes of St. Messiah and St. Angelina. The broad and sandy beach borders on a forest. The bay was part of the ancient "polis" of Apollonia, and was used as a port. One very rarely met plant, the sand lily, grows only in the region, and can be seen thriving on the sand dunes. All efforts to transplant it to other parts of the Black Sea coast were fruitless.
Sozopol has two passenger ports. Thanks to its southern location, the sunshine days here last from the beginning of May to October. The fans of water sports, windsurfing and scuba diving can find excellent conditions for sport in the attractive secluded little beaches to the south.
The area is popular tourist destination, famous with the artistic community of Bulgaria, as well as the numerous foreign tourists who visit it. Every year at the beginning of September, the town hosts the Apolonia Arts Festival, which is undoubtedly the greatest event in the field of cultural tourism.

Bansko |map|
Bulgaria's biggest ski resort, situated in the Pirin Mountains, about 160 km south of Sofia, Bansko is already a well - established winter sport resort. Boasting new ski lifts, a modern ticket system and snow cannons on the lower slopes, the resort will pay a key role in Bulgaria's future. Most of the new development is apartments, sold off-plan, and prices vary depending on location and build quality.
Why Bansko?
- Bansko is the main ski resort in the country
- Work has also begun on an 18-hole golf course designed by Ian Woodsman
- The resort has excellent facilities and infrastructure
- Rental guarantees are offered by many developers
- It has a mix of new and older properties
Winter lasts for almost half the year in Bansko, a town of just under 10,000 people nestled among greenery in the shadow of ice-capped Mt Vihren, the highest peak in the Pirin range. Founded by exiled clans in the fifteenth century, Bansko has lived by trade and hard craft- growing tobacco at an altitude of 1000 m above the sea level- and remains an agricultural town, despite a big move into tourism. Though popular with Sofians as a winter ski and summer alpine resort, most tourists arrive on Friday and leave on Sunday.
Hugged in the warm embrace of the Pirin Mountains is Bansko, a museum town alluring tourists all year round. Since 1979 this town has been acknowledged as one of international significance to the tourism industry. Equally attractive during all 4 seasons, it offers various recreational resources. The domestic and international popularity of Bansko finds its roots in the perfect conditions for ski tourism combined with original folklore and old style Bulgarian architecture stone houses that are guarded by high walls and solid double gates.
The majestic church "St. Troitsa" (1835), made of granite, marble and brick masonry rises in the center of the town. Its interior astonishes with its grandeur, as well as with its iconostasis. All the icons were created by Dimitar Molerov, a native of Bansko who graduated in Vienna and established an icon painting school together with his son. Another sight to see is the old church, "Deva Maria" (1808). Its iconostasis ranks among the few in the Balkans with such high artistic value.
Among the other sights in Bansko one can also visit the "Nikola Vaptsarov" museum house, the House of Arts, the Ethnographic exhibition, the bazaar, a permanent icon exhibition, the Velian House, the Neophit Rilski museum and the Town Museum of History.
All Bansko restaurants and pubs serve both European and Bulgarian dishes. However, recommended are the local specialties such as Kapama, Katino meze, etc. Accompanied of course by quality Bulgarian wines.
